Our Story:
“I started Desert Tech to make better rifle systems. I got tired of hunting with my long/heavy precision field rifles. Rifles that were highly unbalanced, with poor ergonomics, and that limited me to firing just one caliber.” Everyone else was so focused on trying to modernize 100-year-old rifle designs that they ended up throwing 95% of the rifle components in the garbage and required premier gunsmiths to do all the work. At the end of the day they added excess weight, cost, size, and really-long delivery times to the rifles. I wanted to design rifles that were off the shelf accurate, significantly shorter and lighter. Purpose designed with ergonomics built into them so they would seamlessly integrate with modern optics and accessories without the need for heavy add-ons. At the time, I had a dozen rifles in my gun-safe, but I only had rifle scopes on two of them. I am a glass snob that couldn’t afford more than two moderately high-end scopes. On many occasions, I thought how nice it would be to only need one rifle scope and one rifle system, and still be able to shoot all my favorite calibers. Then I could sell all my rifles and scopes, upgrade to a very high-end scope and only learn to shoot one rifle system. It would also give me the versatility to train with a light recoiling, inexpensive calibers, and hunt with a powerful, heavy recoiling/expensive calibers. Hence, multi-caliber rifles offered HUGE benefits! The SRS rifle was the solution I created; an extremely accurate bullpup design that is 25% shorter and 38% lighter than the competition and has multi-caliber convertibility. The SRS rifle changed the face of the precision rifle world forever! And thus, Desert Tech was born.
