July MDR Update

July MDR Update

Dear Valued Customers, here is our June MDR update.

I had hoped this announcement would be that we are shipping guns!  But unfortunately, there are a handful of parts that are still in coating.  The parts are supposed to arrive in our shop any day, which means late this week or next.  We will be assembling production rifles after that and function testing them.  We don’t expect to hit any more snags but we will keep you posted if we do.

How Soon Will MDRs be shipped?

We anticipate that guns will be shipping in the next two to three weeks.  Yesterday I had my hands on the first assembled production FDE MDR rifle, super exciting.  Of course, that rifle still needed the few parts that are still in coating, so no, we can’t ship it to anyone just yet.  Not until those parts get back from coating, but any-day they will be here.

I appreciate everyone’s patience with us, and for those of you who have hung in with us through all of this, you will be happy you did.  For those who fell by the wayside, I understand why you did and I can respect your choice and I hope that in our next product release we regain your confidence because we won’t repeat the mistakes we made on the MDR again.

Sincerely

Nicholas Young

CEO, Desert Tech

Nicholas, I am a big fan of your bull-pups and like many others I’ve been waiting years for the MDR and I understand that perfection takes time, it’s your 5th gen MDR and you haven’t released it for retail lol, For a Co. of any kind that takes balls. For me personally I’m 99% sure that I’ll get perfection ( or the closest thing to it ) when I get MY DMR. Good luck & God bless

    Nick,

Thanks for the update. It’s gotta suck being on your side. I sucks on this side too! I have to believe that you are making these choices to insure that this product is perfect and for that reason alone I am willing to wait it out. New innovation is always difficult and moving to production is even more challenging. I’ve waited this long, what’s a few more weeks.

I did get in on a early group buy in 2014,still waiting. It does suck but again we as Americans are spoiled we want everything now and supersize it.Maybe every so often waiting a little while isn’t so bad maybe you appreciate things a little more when people have taken the time to finish a product.I know every plastic weapon I have owned I have had to sand or dremel down sharp edges because that’s not a step manufacturers are willing to do to finish a product. That’s just a peave of mine, others not to mention a name SATU backwards has broken even before firing it.and broke again when it was replaced. So maybe waiting for a tested and refined product isn’t that bad .That being said PICK IT UP NICK,er I mean good work guys can’t wait.

It’s possible I missed it in the updates but where are you guys on the 556? Everything I’ve seen recently seems to be about the larger caliber.

Glad to hear you are taking your time. Better a working riffle later than a non working one now. You guys used a lot of my ideas on it, I hope you used the 20″ barrel and not the waist of velocity 19″ . Also hope you used the forward assist. Before anyone ses it the ak has an assist, its called the changing handle. Hope everything works out for you guys .Keep it up.

I love all the positives posts, but with the history problem with parts manufacture will the MDR carry an extended warranty. I have asked this before, but I have sen no answer and I know how blogs have a tendency to weed out anything but glowing positive.

After so many delays and comments on QC, this gun better be perfect. Any more delays after this last one and we should have serious concerns with your ability to meet any date or with your ability to service any issues that come up. I haven’t preordered but agree with a previous post that you should offer those customers something special to compensate them.

Thanks for the update. That being said how about a little something for our patience? Plopping 2300 down on faith in your companies’ ability seems at this point an error. If I was a year late in paying you for something what would happen?

Amen. It’s time to put up or shut up. Plain and simple. I’m sure you will more than likely delete this entry. But the truth is the truth. I really hope the mdr is beyond anyone’s possible expectation. After several years of waiting it had better be defect free. But at this point Desert Tech has to earn my money.

As long as the trigger can be adjusted or replaced to a pull of 4 pounds and the rifle shoots MOA, it’s worth the wait. I’m assuming that dt can at least make a rifle that shoots. If after all the hype the trigger sucks and we have to wait another year for a decent trigger it will likely be years before the rifle gains any meaningful market share.
