Shooters,
Mark from Short Action Customs here. Just signing in to give you an update on the 223 Rem conversions.
We have all of our 3-D printing and prototype work done. We have them feeding and working properly at this moment. We have been working with a machine shop who does excellent work, they have been working on reviewing our models and ensuring they are good to go. Right now they are making me 2 sets (bolt head and extension) up for the conversion that will be able to fire and do true testing with in the next few weeks.
Once I start putting these through their paces and really get a good warm and fuzzy, I will start production with them. Some small parts I will need to have made up are going to be...
Firing Pin
Ejector and spring
Cross pin for securing bolt head into bolt body.
Magazine
Follower
floor plate
For the magazines, it looks like we will be machining them out of Aluminum and most like will be anodizing them. Magazine capacity will be in the 8-10 round range. We would love to do a double stack, but at this time we just have to focus getting a solid performing .223 Rem conversion going instead of putting off the complete project because of one component. With this project, the magazine has been the most challenging part. We needed to design a magazine that fit into the existing DTA mag well, but has feed lips that protrude far enough forward to support the cartridge while the bullet tip enters the chamber. This was the biggest challenge to over come with the 223 project. For this reason, I'm not 100% sure the 300 BLK OUT will feed perfectly like the 223 will.
Once we get our new bolt heads and extensions in hand, we will barrel them up and keep this project rolling.
I can be reached at Mark@shortactioncustoms.com for more information. Please keep in mind that the more time we spend on the E-mails the less time out of the shop. We will post any updates on Com Link as they come.
Thank you.
Mark Gordon

Nice to hear it straight from you Mark.
My 375 Sledgehammer conversion is perfect. I for one will be in for a .223 conversion when it's done. There will be a heap of us here in Australia that will be lining up to get one.
Will it be a complete conversion or will we need to supply a donor bolt?
Maybe a Christmas present under the tree?

What barrel lengths are you running on the .223
Re: 223/300 Blackout conversion
A 26-28" 8 twist would be nice.
