Hi guys,
I was talking to one of the barrel manufactures over here and he said my 375 barrel was being lapped that day. It got me thinking about what barrels i have on the go for my DTA.
FOR MY SRS:
LILJA:
375cal - 10 twist 30" (375 Sledgehammer)
30cal - 10 twist 30" (30 Lap Mag)
PACNOR:
30cal - 12 twist 30" (308 F class barrel shooting 155gr)
FOR MY COVERT:
TSE (australian)
375cal 7 twist (375 Whisper)
LOTHAR WALTHER:
50cal 9.5 twist (510 Whisper)
Has anyone else got any barrels on the go?
I have made up my own version of a heavy barrel DTA, the prrifle will be parrallel from where the barrel steps down so it will be just over 1" all the way to the muzle. I didnt think it woudl be a good ifea to run a 375 or 510 barrel with the standard DTA muzzle diameter.
Who's got custom DTA barrels on the go??
Re: Who's got custom DTA barrels on the go??
There hasn't been much going on here lately so I thought I would post an update.....
Pacnor stuffed up the profile on my 308 12 twist f class barrel so I have to wait for them to remake it.
My 375 sledgehammer barrel is sitting here, archaos is sending me his reamer so it will be the next barrel built.
My 375 whisper barrel is sitting here, I am waiting on a mate to send me the reamer.
I got my 300 lap mag barrel but have to make a decision on a std shoulder or improved one.
The 510 black is in country and should be profiled very soon.

Dam Seddo, I am finding it harder to get the time to even shoot my 308 once a month now. Now you have more barrels.
Re: Who's got custom DTA barrels on the go??
Archaos,
My F Class range is a 5 minute drive away, the only thing stopping me shooting more is juggling rifle shooting with pistol shooting otherwise i would be there every weekend. I am to shoot rifles twice a month and pistols twice a month.
I wont be able to shoot the 375 or 510 there as they have an 8mm limit but i can shoot everythign else. I try and shoot a different rifle each time i go to mix things up. If the wifle doesnt have plans for saturday morning i try and get there around 10 so i can play until 1pm when the match stats.
The reamer arrived today so i will get ringing the gunsmith in a few hours.

Cool glad it made it, those Lapua boxes come in handy.

Re: Who's got custom DTA barrels on the go??
Here it is, my new 375 Sledgehammer barrel and T4 muzzle brake. I spec'ed the barrel a bit heavier so it runs parallel after the drop down. The muzzle brake is a Terminator T4 muzzle brake made by Greg in New Zealand.

From the top it is the 375 Sledgehammer, 22-250Ai and 338 Lap Mag. I had the smaller T3 brake fitted to my 338 Lap Mag barrel, I will give it a run on the weekend and see if it makes it nicer to shoot as its my only option until the soft recoil pad is available.

Those are some nice looking options to shoot. I think I'm about to make the move to .375 Whisper as making .510 Whisper brass is such a pain for me and my hand tools.

Here it is in the rifle

here are the 2 fired cases next to a couple of 338LM's.

I thought the same thing about the 510 whisper but I had a go and i was able to neck turn the shoulder into them. As I have the barrel sitting here i wont do anymore until I have it fitted up and can check it in the chamber.
