First of all, thanks for the new forum!

Just got my covert .308/ .300 wm srs.
Working hard to get some nice loads.
I am working towards 175 smk, 44 gr (or just a hair more) of varget. Used those to sight in,but having to rework my brass that I had loaded. My scar 17 spits them out quit large

anyone tried the 208 amax in the .300 wm? Going to try h1000.

I found the Nosler Custom Competition in 175gr loaded with AR2208 (Australian ADI powder close to varget) 44.0gr very good. Lapua brass and Federal match primers. They are travelling at 2726fps from my 26" barrel (308). Constant under 1/2moa with some 1/4moa groups when you really put your mind to it and settle in.

Scubadds,

Do you have a subsonic load yet? I have a covert on order and plan to use it subsonic to replace my 300-221 if the accuracy is as good.

11gr of trail boss and a 190gr SMK gives 1071fps. Pity I can't have a suppressor.

Its a shame i cant take one hunting!! I have the ability to spend the money to test or demonstrate one at the range but thats it. A lot of money for something i cant do a lot with. Subsonics are still fun without them!!

I love the 300 grain bullets for the 338LM. :)

I find the 300gr stuff to be too heavy in .338.

A stock 338LM will never be an authority at 2000yds, but to a mile it can get it done fairly effectively. From a trajectory standpoint, a 300gr pill just can't be launched fast enough out of a standard 26" barrel to really shine. A 338 edge, or allen magnum can get it going fast enough... but just barely.

250's on the other hand are too light for reliable hits at a mile.

My perfect bullet has been found in the 285 hornady. Excellent performance on big game and supremely accurate without really having to work at it. It is by far and above the most forgiving bullet I've ever used in 338LM. I spent a great deal of time with 300SMK's and 300 scenars only to be left unsatisfied and with a sore shoulder to boot. I moved to the 250's only to be more unsatisfied.

I truly believe the hornady 285 to be the magic stuff for 338LM.

My .375 will launch a 330gr Lehigh at 2943fps, takes only 27mils of adjustment to reach out to 2223meters (2431yards) that's the point it goes transonic. Also it's not on a HTI, it's in an SRS.

Really want to hear how that shoots archaos, sounds like sledge has done a good job on designing the round, and the shots of the impacts, well, lets just say that the terminal ballistics, were just that, terminal, gotta shoot a bunny with one, just for shits and giggles
