Subsonic loads for Covert

I've been doing some experimentation with sub loads for the 16" Covert 308. The one I'm working with now is showing great promise.

Is anyone doing subsonic .338LM loads? Now that I have a short barrel and suppressor, I thought I'd make a load just for the fun of it.

Have you tried 208's subsonic? My covert is on its way from the dealer and I a lot of 208's and only half a box of 220's.

I've been having good luck with 225 Hornadys 11.2 Trailboss and seated to 2.235" @ogive. It's only a little over 1k fps but I've gotten good hits to 500 yds or so. That's where I run out of elevation and reticle with my scope.

I did some testing today but I don't have velocity figures as I didn't realise the Magneto Speed didn't work at subsonic velocities. Next time I will take the old chrono with me. They are jumping as I couldn't get a projie to touch the lands and fit in the magazine. I will get the OAL posted asap.

I used new lapua brass straight from the box, not sized first.

Now that I have my 16" .308 barrel with me in NZ, I've been testing subsonic loads using Lapua's 200gr subsonic bullet. I initially tried 175SMKs, but these heavier bullets are actually grouping better at distance (which isn't far to begin with).
