Living in Canberra and doing quite a bit of pest management for farmers having a kangaroo culling permit the dta is great. I get lots of roo's foxes the odd unlucky rabbit when the 22lr's not to hand but the pest management job I got a couple of months ago surprised me. I was asked to do some population reduction on a small farm at the foothills of the mountains that grows peas. The owner said he couldn't catch what was causing the damage but he assumed roo's so i went out and spent an evening there get used to the place. at about 10pm I heard a noise turned on the spotlight and low and behold there in the field was close to 30 fallow deer in 2 groups. When I told the farmer what was eating his plants the next day he almost fell out of his chair saying I see 1or2 every now and then but that's crazy. so i have now spent about 10 days there in total and got almost a dozen out but it would seem that it has hardly any effect on the population so far as last weekend I saw the most yet at over 45 in one 24 hour period. my friends, family and my freezers are full and I don't have the hart to let it go to waste so....a good problem to have for me and I've never seen anything else like lt before
