got a question on our FB page the other day from a potential DTA purchaser...
obviously lead times are a few decades out on a new order right now, but for his second question...what's the best accuracy you've seen out of your DTAs?
Our guarantee is 1/2 MOA but we frequently hear of guys getting even better.
what MOA/distance/caliber & load/barrel length?

I am the potential owner in question. I am torn between going all out on a SRS or building a custom .308 on a Remington 700 action. I have probably looked at every option, read every forum and watched every youtube video out there. Any insight into this?
We are a premier level dealer for DTA, and we routinely perform load development services for our clients.
I have never seen a factory DTA barrel that did not hold 1/2moa or better. 1/3 MOA is very typical.
We also sell custom barrels using Benchmark blanks. Those puppies shoot better than the user can. We have to hand them over to a benchrest expert in order to see how they shoot. Typically they will produce groups in the .1's and .2's at 100yds. Basically a 5 shot group is just a slightly larger hole than a single bullet hole.
This is not to take anything away from DTA, because their factory barrels are right up there with any of the top sniper rifles on earth, if not the best. However, you cannot expect a factory production part to have the kind of accuracy that a custom part would. This is not a reasonable demand, when they have to turn out dozens of barrels per day to be effective in the marketplace.
The reasons for this are vast, but it stems from the fact that DTA SRS and HTI rifles are built from the start to be the most accurate rifle on earth. 6" of tenon length instead of 1" or less on a traditional rifle. That's 6" of the barrel that is supported by the action instead of 1". This results in more consistent POI, but also 5" less barrel whip. There are MANY other reasons why these rifles are so accurate, but I won't go into them here.
The moral of the story is, DTA factory barrels are more accurate than most shooters. For those shooters that want better accuracy still... our custom conversions in DTA chassis fills the role unlike anything we've ever seen, and give you the ability to have a custom twist, flutes, barrel length, wildcat chambering, and other things that you can't get from a factory barrel.
This is going to sound corny, but when you own one, you'll understand the following statement:
DTA SRS - One rifle to rule them all.

I had the same dilema. I have an MRAD 338LM and RW Snyder Rem 5r custom 308. Both are wonderful and easily shoot less than 0.5 MOA except on especially windy days. They shoot better than I do!!!
That being said after shooting a Gen 2 DTA SRS I couldn't resist ordering DTA's new A1 22" in 308. Wonderful, well balanced platform can't be beat for size, power and accuracy. Many rifles in one with all the available barrel conversions. Only one good scope needed for all the calibers.
You know you want one-GO FOR IT!!! You won't be disappointed, I guarantee. Good Shooting.
DTA rifles are very accurate and the quality of their Lothar-Walther barrels is hard to argue with. What Orkan said about the barrel tenon is important and gives them a rigidity that's closer to what the Unlimited class Benchrest shooters use (ie rail guns), but they're still designed for MIL/LEO use so they are rugged and durable. It's a careful balance and one on par with the best factory rifles out there.
