Guys,
When the forum launched, we overlooked this one...but adding it now! If you're new here, take a quick sec to tell us about yourself: shooting background, how you came to start shooting DTA, other interests and hobbies--whatever you want.
Don't feel like you have to do an intro post if you're against it, but this is how we figure out who everyone in the community is!

Re: Kicking things off!
Dan,
Not a bad idea, i might a swell kick this off.
I have been shooting since i was about 8, as is the norm it started with an air rifle in my grandpa's back yard in Brighton. I have been a keen pistols shooter since i got my licence (yes we have to do that in Australia) around 1994. My best achievements were becoming a Grandmaster Production shooter at the 2003 IPSC Nationals and being on the Australian Team to the IPSC World shoot in Ecuador in 2005. I pretty much stopped competitive pistol shooting and pig shooting trips in 2006 when my first daughter was born, i got the i'm pregnant phone call when i was in Ecuador.A few years ago i started shooting F Class as the range is 5 mins up the road and i am having fun juggling F aClass and Pistsol shooting on my free weekends.
I have a Firearms Dealers licence as a hobby and primarily import Stiller actions and Lilja barrels.
What drew me to the DTA was the ability to quick change barrels and have a repeatable zero. As a person who likes playing with lots of different calibres its the perfect platform for me and fits well in my safe next to my Thompson Encore and Contender.

Re: Kicking things off!
I grew up shooting on our ranch, anything from Pepsi cans to varmints. Got back in to firearms in 2008, and got bit by the precision shooting bug pretty bad. I've experimented with, .308' .260, .300wm, 7wsm, .338LM, and others.
In the mean time, I've added FFL to my business.
I'm in the process of deciding which DTA chassis and which calibers to order. Super excited!
Great to see a specific forum for the DTA crowd.

Hi All
I have been shooting for some years and only the last couple of years got into the long range target scene. I pondered on what rifle to buy with there being sooooo much choice out there. In the end i saw the DTA SRS with its many calibers and thought yep thats for me and bought the 260 and the 338 LM. All i can say is WOW what a rifle system, you guys at DTA should be proud of yourselves for making a real piece of manufacturing excellence.
Thank you all at DTA for making my range time the most fun.......All the very best.

I've been a gun owner and enthusiast since my Dad bought me a BB gun back in the 50's. being a LH shooter, I still own some RH rifles that I purchased early in life. Anxiously waiting for DTA to come up with the LH version, once I get ahold of a LH DTA Rifle, I'll be then selling most of my other rifles.
Thanks for this Website.

Re: Kicking things off!
Hi everyone. My Dad got me into hunting in my teens-ducks, geese and pheasant. Even got into falconry hunting ducks, geese and pheasants. Great fun, but very time consuming. Off to college and never looked back, marrying my childhood sweetheart in 1969. A few years later after medical school and 2 kids, got them into pistol shooting at 7 & 8.
Two years ago my son got me back into shooting at a local indoor range-mostly pistols, ARs and shotguns. After 2 years I got bored and last June went crazy and bought a Barrett MRAD 338 LM. After 10 grand into that with scope and peripherals, I realized the ammo was eating us alive, so picked up a RW Snyder Rem 700 5R in 308 and we both having a blast since. Shoot 60 round 500 yd prone matches each month.
No barrel conversions for the MRAD yet, so started looking at the DTA SRS A1 in 308. Ordered one on Feb 28th and now waiting the expected 12 weeks with baited breath. I'll give you an update after my new baby arrives and I get her dialed in. Hope we can get this Forum more active and exchange info. Good Shooting

Re: Kicking things off!
It's amazing how many people I've come across who bought MRADs expecting to be able to shoot multiple calibers only to be stuck with Barrett making new promises about said conversions every SHOT show. It's a shame, but has led quite a few people over to the SRS-side of things. Welcome!sib1948 wrote:No barrel conversions for the MRAD yet, so started looking at the DTA SRS A1 in 308.
Re: Kicking things off!
It is what it is, but I still love the MRAD and am more than willing to support Ronnie Barrett for all that he has done for our troops. GOD BLESS AMERICA. I look forward to joining the DTA team and hopefully can provide some useful information here.

Warm welcome Sib!
Glad to hear a little about the "broken road" that led you to DTA. haha just kiddin. Keep us posted when your A1 arrives. Love to get some photos and report from the range. What scope are you planning to run on the A1?
