I took the Covert to the range this afternoon to run in the barrel and WOW!!! Talk about muzzle blast, I was shooting a load of 43.5gr 2208 (Varget) and a 178amax with a slight jump. I haven't shot my 338 SRS for a while but I think the blast is close, I will have to run them side by side and see how it goes. I ended up talking the brake off and it was a lot nice to shoot. The issue is we have a 75cm min rifle length over here so I made up an alloy barrel extension to keep me legal. It was supposed to be 1/4" longer but I stuffed up the threads so now the magneto doesn't quite fit on it.

On that, what are the rail screws held in with? I broke an allen key trying to remove mine.

Just needs some cerakote and it will look okay. I'm thinking about making a longer one so the magneto fits but I will test it out and see how it goes first.

Nice Seddo, I have my bolt back now and it's all good again. Now just to get out.

I made a longer extension for the magneto.

I'm off to the range first thing tomorrow to get some chrono work done. I want to sort out a supersonic 178gr amax load and a subsonic 208 amax load. I'm shooting a 600y f class match on Saturday so if I can get some velocity figures I can have a go at hitting the target with super and sub sonic rounds.

Here are some recent pictures of our SRS Coverts in the field with 26" 338LM kits installed on a Red Stag hunt we did last month. These aren't even the big boys we shot but they are the record distance kills we got on the hunt. :)

Firing position that my brother took his first Red Stag at a distance of 850 meters.

Location of Stag, firing position can be seen the the background at the bottom edge of the very large dirt spot in the top half of the hayfield flat.

1400 yard Red Stag kill. First shot hit him in the front shoulder he ran 100 meters then bedded down. We assumed he was already dead by the time we got to him but as we approached he jumped and starting running so I dropped him with my second shot at approx 150 yds while running with an offhand shot, he flipped head over heals it really a great time!
