can some one help PLEASE.....

Post by aussiebob »

i have a dta srs A1 sitting at horsly park gun shop in sydney but i cant have it as i got it with a 16in barrle now the barrle is legal the stock lenght is legal but the overall length when they went to regester it is not legal by 2 inches so to rectify this i have had to shell out for a 338 lap conversion. now that is there the torque wrench i orderd didnt come with it and when we rang up they have none in stock currently so i am asking if any one in sydney can drop one at horsly park so they can spend 15 min chainging the barrle so i can get it regesterd and then wait for the torque wrench to turn up as i have automotive tourqe wrenches but they measure in foot pounds not inch pounds or if any one knows of one for sale i would be most grateful and if your willing to come to canberra ill take you to my favoite deer spot to say thanks or ill pay to borrow one if i have to ......please :(

Bob, I will drop past Horsley tomorrow with my DTA wrench so they can swap it. Just tell them I'm coming. I will get there in the morning.

Hay Bob, I was just at Horsley, dam your barrel is in tight. We couldn't get it out. I released the 4 bolts and locking cam but no go.

Give them a call.

Also if you can't get the DTA wrench just buy a wheeler FAT wrench with a 5mm hex bit. They work just as well and are available in nearly every gun shop

It feels like either excessive oil or the greasy stuff on a new rifle is holding it in place. If it was mine I would use a small rag and a piece of dowl to tap it gently out from the back end. There is a wiggle in it but it just doesn't want to come out, it's just hard to grip the muzzle end (use gloves as that brake will rip your hand). Also I would check your bolt for any burrs or imperfections as it appears to have some metal shavings in the bolt guide area. This is common but I can see a small track mark, take care of that first up (this is not a serious issue), other than that it's nice. I noticed you didn't go for the mono pod, I wish I had. It's nice and compact. Do you have a hard case or soft case for it? I have a 1720 original DTA hard case for mine that I am getting rid of as I now have the larger 1750 case to hold more conversions and parts.

Yea I've done a basic gun smithing course with the army reserves so I'll go over it check the bolt out polish a few bits get it slick and smooth thanks heaps for the insight I definitely hadn't herd about that before. With the mono pod I wanted one but it was at least 5months extra wait and almost a grand more I actually originaly ordered the package with rifle, rings, 2 conversions, hard case and a muzzle brake and operator's tool kit for 9,000 but they didn't have the hard case or the tool kit so I have ended up spending 10,000 on the rifle and 2 conversions so if you have a case I'd definitely be keen I'm also looking for some optics and rings as I only have a nikko Stirling nighteater and it's not ideal but it will do for now but I definitely want to get something better so new or used I'm keen speaking of which we should probably make a thred with goodies for sale thanks again for the help

I have the DTA 30moa mount and a S&B 5-25x56 PMII. I wouldn't have minded the Spuhr mount and have had gotten the Horus reticle in my S&B

I had a Nightforce originally on my DTA in 8-32x56 NP-R1, you can pick them up pretty cheap now and are a great piece of glass. I see a lot of people running the premiers now! the Khales would be nice too.

Yea I would love to have that comb but I'm struggling to find the funds to cover this unscheduled perchase of the second conversion as that wasn't exactly what I had planned as it seems like a winner but I think we're talking mid year or later now so looking at more affordable options so might go for the nightforce and I have a really good qd one piece mount that is garenteed repeatable zero at 1000 yds so I can fit my paladin night scope
