No love for the MDR?

Post by sobiloff »

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Micro Dynamic Rifle DT showed-off at SHOT last week. I was happily surprised that it'll shoot both .223 and .308. I'm not going to give up my ARs for .223, but I haven't settled on a semi-auto .308 yet. I was looking hard at the SCAR-17, but the very poor magazine availability has soured me a bit. The MDR works with standard MagPul mags, which is a huge plus in my book.

I know DT is still fiddling with the design a bit, but if they can make it as robust and reliable as the competition I'll probably be opening my wallet for one.

Anyways, I'm just excited to see what DT's up to, and happy it's not "yet another AR variant."

You won't get much from the Aussies here as we can't have them as they are too dangerous.

We will produce a straight-pull MDR system for the UK, unsure if Australia will allow it though.

Prehaps, no issues on straight pull here, its a case of what it looks like, as it does not look like an AUG I hope they would allow it, if so I will purchase several

I'm in love! I know it's a long ways off until everything is worked out, but the balance and pointability are phenomenal. I'll be very interested to see how the accuracy and such all comes together. Especially if/when DMR variants come on line.

One thing I forgot to ask when I was there though... specs on the barrels. chrome lined/nicor/chf/etc.

Barrel mfg method is not determined yet as we are still developing it. Development is coming along still, accuracy is looking very good so far. One thing is for sure we got to this 100% right and that is what we are doing. The world will be very happy with the MDR when it is ready. :)

I'm glad to hear it's coming along. I'm greatly looking forward to it and the MDR-C. Might be too early to tell, but are there plans to release an armour's tool kit similar to what was done with the SRS and HTI?
