How to upgrade to an SRS A1 buttpad assembly

Post by Nicholas »

Guys,
As you know we have created a new and improved buttpad assembly with a softer recoil pad, and tool less spacer system. The resins have been substantially strengthened with additional ribs and stronger materials. I know a lot of Gen 1 and Gen II rifle owners are interested in upgrading to the new A1 buttpad system. This can be done but unfortunately it is not just a drop in setup like we would have liked it to be because we added a new rib at the top of the plates that will lock into the stock panel just above the bore. You will need to machine a slot into the stock panels to install the new plates onto the gen 1 and gen 2 gun stocks, this can easily be done with a dremel for those with a steady hand. For those that don't have a steady hand find a friend who can help you.

For those of you with this old spring loaded latch in the bottom of the stock remove your stock panels from the gun and take out the latch and spring because you will not need it anymore as the new buttpad plates have an internal clip on each plate.

I hope this information helps. One last thing you will need a new bolt stop for your short action calibers like the 308 which already has clearance in it for the new buttplate clip I mentioned above.
