Hi all,
I just zeroed my DTA SRS A-1 .308 today. After I returned home, I stripped and cleaned, during this I broke down the entire bolt assembly and put a very light coat of BreakFree on it and then reassembled the bolt. Where else do I need to lubricate?
Thanks,
Steve
SRS A-1/Where do I lube
Re: SRS A-1/Where do I lube
You are doing a better job than me. I have never pulled apart a bolt and i have had one of mine for a few years now. All i have been doing is to wipe it down and oil it, most of the time i am not in dust so it never really gets cruddy. The new covert on the other hand was taken out in to the red dust and spent some time on the back of a motorbike and 4 wheeler. It got to the stages where i had issues opening the bolt. I am yet to pull that one apart for a decent clean, its supposed to be a pretty wet weekend so that could be one of the this i do.

Where are you oiling it? I did the bolt with BreakFree, but do you oil the trigger, sear, etc.? Do you put any lube on the interior of the bolt channel in the chasis?
Re: SRS A-1/Where do I lube
I oil the sleeve on the bolt and the lockings lugs.
Re: SRS A-1/Where do I lube
I have two A1s with several thousand rounds through them. I clean the chamber with BoreTech Carbon Remover and wipe the old grease off the lugs and apply small amount of new grease. I apply some Kranoil to the boltface and wipe with a Qtip. I only clean the bore after 5-700 rounds with two wet patches of the BoreTech carbon eliminator, followed with 3-4 dry patches, then one last patch with 2-3 drops of Kranoil. After 5-10 fouling shots, I'm back in action with accuracy restored.
