Hi All
I have a 6.5x47 Lapua conversion for my SRS (second generation).
Some times i find the it will not chamber a round and jams up in the breech,i then have to remove the round by hand before chambering the next round. In snap firing comps it a real pain.
This doesn't happen with the .308 barrel.Any modifications that anyone has made that may help would be appreciated.
Also anyone running a .284 Winchester as a barrel conversion.
Thanks

Re: Bullet feed problem
Is this a double feed issue? or does it just happen when loading a single round from the mag?
I have heard of others running a 284 but have had some difficulty getting it to feed, magazine modification is necessary.

The first shot, is worth all the rest.

Hi Coldbore
it happened when i was shooting against the clock, it is as if the round jams against the feed ramp. On pulling back the bolt the to reload the bolt would jam against the next round trying to force both into the chamber.
probably part my fault not allowing the first round to be ejected and trying to reload it.I have now altered the lips on the mag to allow the round to sit slightly higher and the feed lips closer to lift the bullet little higher as it is pushed into the chamber, this seems to have cured the problem.
With the .284 i will be loading single rounds

Re: Bullet feed problem
So did you short stroke the bolt then? Is that what Im reading? Sometimes a cartridge doesn't get tossed clear of the raceway, and you get hung up on it when coming back towards battery.

Hi Coldbore
I had one round out of 50 jam today. The round half feeds into the chamber and jams on the feed ramp.
My natural reaction was to pull back the bolt to attempt to re load the round, because the round has not engaged onto the bolt face squarely yet the extractor has no hold on the bullet case so does not extract it.
So in haste to try to reload the jammed round another round is picked up by the bolt and this then gets stuck agains the first round
This does seem to be a double feed problem, but now i know what is actually happening i should be able to avoid it.
