Its finally here, i got my A1 recoil pad upgrade this week and here are the pics.
As you can see it clips straight on the old SRS with no issues. I have been running a bag rider when shooting F Class so the next project will be to get that working with the new butt. The only way i can see it working is if i machine of the ridge on the old butt plate and the back of the new spacers and screw them together. Has anyone else tried it?
Is there a serial # break for the Gen. 1 chassis determining whether or not the new recoil pad will work or not? I'm very interested in doing the very same conversion you have done!
This is Ryan from the sales team. It's been hard to explain over the phone where you need to modify the stock panel to allow the SRS-A1 buttpad to be mounted on a Gen 1 or Gen 2 SRS chassis. So here is a picture of where the small tab hits the stock panel. Like Nick said if you have a steady hand you can dremel out a notch on the stock panel to allow the tab to index. If anyone wants to order one please call the sales team here at 801-975-7272 ext. *217, *115, or *108. You would also need to order the bolt stop if you are running a short action caliber. The SRS-A1 buttpad assembly retails for $132 and the bolt stop retails for $26.20.
I just ordered my new recoil pad assembly but think I'll just remove the tab on the pad instead of modifying the skins. The factory Gen. 1 pad didn't have the tab at the top and I think this would be a better route for me to go unless someone can explain why I shouldn't. Also another reason is I forgot to order a new bolt stop as well LOL!
