Hell and Back For the .338 LM

By now you know that we pack more precision and punch into each and every one of our compact sniper rifles than any other manufacturer in the world with a dead nuts guarantee of ½ MOA or better when using the proper cartridge and we do it right here in the United States of America. But make no mistake about it.
Desert Tech went to hell and back to make you that proper cartridge, too.
Today, we’re talking about the record-breaking .338 Lapua Magnum round and while we’re on the subject of infinitesimal tolerances, let’s begin by saying that after two years of painstaking development, it wasn’t enough for our engineers to say that our premium match ammo was ready for us to sell.
After the high speed video analysis. After the vibration analysis. After the exhaustive live fire testing . . . only then did we go out and get some third-party from the tallest ivory tower to verify the results.
And here is what happened when we pushed our .338 LM ammunition to the utmost temperature extremes to test for accuracy and absolute consistency:
First, they fired 20 rounds under Ambient conditions in some scientific lab requiring rubber gloves, maybe even masks and multiple diplomas meant for seeing on the wall behind your mahogany desk but not touching. And just to make it really authentic-like, we went out and purchased expensive brand-name ammo from one of our competitors as a kind of control group but, well, really because we wanted to show off a little.

As you can see, the Desert Tech .338 Lapua Magnum performed remarkably consistent. In fact, no published results by any other manufacturer have ever proven better. And while we like to say, at this point, that it is the most reliable ammunition on any shelf in any store, it’s only going to get better with the next test.
But it’s not just any test at some random temperature. When we said cold, we meant hypothermia cold where your speech slurs, muscle coordination dwindles and amnesia starts to set in. That begins at 20 degrees celsius which isn’t quite cold enough for us.
We went below 0 degrees, where water freezes, and even -40 degrees, where oil freezes, and found out about a little town in Verkhoyansk, Russia, infamous for being the coldest city on the planet, where the average temperature in January is -50.4 degrees. By the way, that’s where political exiles were sent between 1860 and well into the twentieth century never to be heard from again. Then we went colder because, well, we weren’t quite finished showing off just yet.
We set the lab to -52 degree celsius and fired a total of 40 rounds. Here are the results:

Now that our .338 LM was proven steady in the absolute coldest of climates, we wanted to see how hot we could get it. If a temperature of 40 degrees celsius causes profuse sweating prior to an attack on the central nervous system followed by delirium, organ failure and eventually loss of consciousness and death then we definitely wanted to go higher than that.
So we went back to the World Meteorological Organization and found out that in 1913 at the Furnace Creek Ranch in Death Valley, California, they experienced five consecutive days of 53.8 degree celsius temperature followed by a sixth day on July 10 of 56.7 degrees to set a world record. For those of you fluent in Fahrenheit, that’s 134 degrees.
But we wanted it hotter.
We know the average temperature during its peak in Death Valley, billed as the hottest place on Earth, is 116.5 or 47 degrees celsius. We know that there are points in the Middle East and Africa that approach these marks but we wanted a mouthful of Carolina Reaper while walking barefoot over a pile of angry coals hot.
So, we set the lab to 63 degrees celsius and fired off 40 more rounds. Here are the results:

Now, take a quick look back at the Ambient readings then back at the Extreme Heat chart then back one more time for good measure. In fact, do it as many times as you like and even slow clap if you feel so inclined. The results are unequivocally impressive, if we do say so ourselves.
But it still gets better.
If you happen to get caught between Hellifornia and the Gulag or anywhere in between and happen to wander into your favorite sporting goods store, you can feel duly confident that you will not find better .338 Lapua Magnum ammo than the Desert Tech cartridges found in the stunning blue and grey boxes.
Now, we could get into powder formulas and brass dimensions while hypothetically referencing the inner thighs of Cubana virgins but any proprietary information is coupled with long stints of target weeding at the Desert Tech Training Facility in July and January.
We’d rather you just enjoy the finest .338 LM rounds money can buy while it’s still available.
But you better move lickety split. Our last batch of the premium match blend sold out quickly and the latest pallet went live about a week ago. Call Ryan or Madison at 801-975-7272 and insist on the .338 Lapua Magnum ammo everybody’s been waiting for before someone else gets the very last box.
